Indian Railway Accommodation Classes

Indian Railways is one of the main passenger train companies located in India. It offers many of the standard amenities one would expect to find in typical passenger trains. Indian Railways is in a class all its own with the many different classes of sleeping quarters that it offers.

First class is the best way to travel

The first class cabins are the "high-roller" suites of the line. Each suite offers the lap of luxury for the discerning passenger. The fares run approximately similar to that of an airline ticket. The first class cabins are only offered on the main routes between major metropolitan cities. Each car offers accommodations for up to 18 people. The cabins do offer sleeping quarters; however, they are not as roomy as one may hope. The cars are air conditioned, offering a comfortable ride during the warmer months.

Two and three-tier cars

The two and three-tier cabins are arranged comfortably. The two-tier offers lamps and curtains. Each two-tier car can accommodate up to 48 passengers. The three-tier cars do not offer air-conditioning or lighting.

Executive class chairs

This car offers a coach that is air-conditioned. The seating arrangement is four seats in a row. This class is most commonly frequented by commuting workers during daytime hours. Compared to other commuter trains, the executive class chairs are above the standard of the other lines.

Indian Railways is a competitive and efficient line. Comparable to the major train lines in value and accommodations, this company offers several options for your traveling convenience.
